How to Improve your Google PageSpeed Score (WordPress)

I recently conducted a Google PageSpeed test for a new client of mine and found a number of recommendations. For those of you who are not familiar with Google’s PageSpeed Insights tool, it analyses the content of a web page, then generates suggestions on how to make that page faster.

So, off the back of my research and recommendations, I decided to create this blog post to provide practical guidance and solutions to some common issues that have a negative impact on page speed.

What is Page Speed?

Page speed is often confused with “site speed,” which is actually the page speed for a sample of page views on a site. Page speed can be described in either “page load time” (the time it takes to fully display the content on a specific page) or “time to first byte” (how long it takes for your browser to receive the first byte of information from the web server).

No matter how you measure it, a faster page speed is better; faster pages both rank and convert better.
